A Conversation on Working with Conflict (SPE109)
with Michelle LaBaron and Michael Fogel
Thursday, September 20, 2012 – 6:00-8:00 pm
JIBC New Westminster Campus
Michelle and Michael will share their insights and lessons learned given their experience working with conflict and with people who are in conflict. You will hear their thoughts on the trends they have noticed in the field as they reflect on how these insights inform their current work. They will engage you in the discussion on how present and future practitioners can continue the evolution of conflict resolution practice.
Who should attend:
This event will be of interest to you if you are working in the field, are a conflict resolution student, are enrolled in or considering completing the JIBC Graduate Certificate in Dynamics of Conflict.
What you will learn:
The discussion will include thematic connections with courses in the Certificate, such as:
- how to engage in open-ended explorations of the nature of conflict as a core, primary element of the human condition;
- how holistic approaches to conflict can link body and mind to yield deeper and richer conflict analyses and inform integrative strategies for conflict intervention;
- how conflict and movement are catalysts to a richer and fuller understanding of self and self in connection with others;
- how co-creating processes and ways of communicating can result in conversations that foster mutual influence and multiple intelligences of “knowing”.
