Ashley Huff

Ashley received her undergraduate degree, where she majored in Kinesiology, and her Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia. Ashley is passionate about using evidence-based interventions to enable clients to engage in occupations that are meaningful to them. Her philosophy on rehabilitation is centered on the belief that all clients have the potential for recovery. When Ashley’s not working you can find her running, cooking, or exploring the local mountains surrounding Vancouver.

Caroline Cotton

Type: Occupational Therapists

Caroline trained at the Dorset House School of Occupational Therapy in Oxford. Also trained at the London School of Economics as a Private Secretary/ Personal Administrative Assistant; and Diploma in Interior Design through International Correspondence School.

She worked in England at St. Andrew’s Private Psychiatric Hospital, specializing in Brain Injury and Drug & Alcohol Recovery, in addition to working on a Regional Secure Unit for the Criminally Insane in London. She immigrated to Canada in  1990. She worked in the Kootenays as a community based Pediatric OT at the Children’s Development center, covering the schools throughout Nelson, Castlegar, Rossland, and Trail. Moved back to Lower Mainland,to set up Psychiatric Day Care Unit at Langley Memorial Hospital, covering in Patient Physical Medicine OT position. She worked as the first OT with a Brain Injury Rehab Company( Head works), specializing in Vocational Rehabilitation, Return to Work, and Er gnomic Assessments. Set up the first Community OT program with the Boundary Health Unit( continuing care) covering Ladner, Tsawwassen, White Rock, South Surrey and Cloverdale, whilst living and commuting from Sqaumish. Moved back into private practice with Northwest Rehab following the birth of her son in 1997, whilst covering  a casual OT position at Ridge Meadows Hospital in the Psychiatric Department, and a casual OT position at Surrey Memorial, covering physical medicine positions.

Commence working with Rehab Solutions in 1997 and have been here for 20 years.

Special interest in brain injury/spinal injury survivors, dual diagnosis; chronic pain;all age groups with specialized experience in elderly people.

Emily Cannon

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Emily graduated with her Bachelors of Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley in December 2017 with a major in exercise science and a minor in psychology. Emily joined the JR Rehab team in June 2018. Apart from Emily’s work experience as a fully certified National Lifeguard and Water Safety instructor, she also has extensive volunteer experience in multiple areas of therapy including: physiotherapy, massage, occupational therapy, and personal training. From her own experience with personal and sports related injuries, Emil strongly believes in developing safe and effective rehab programs for her clients, while simultaneously helping to educate her clients along their rehab journey. Her active rehabilitation specializations include working in the gym and pool settings with a variety of clients. Her other interests include teaching swimming lessons, art, traveling, cooking, and sports. Emily continues to grow her knowledge for her field and hopes one day to complete her masters.

Emily Ferguson

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Emily graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2018 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology and joined the JR team in June 2018. During her time at UBC, Emily focused on neuroanatomy, physiology, adapted physical activity, healthy policy, and program development. With a background in competitive swimming and coaching, Emily understands the physical and psychological aspects of athletics, and overall fitness. Emily enjoys expanding her knowledge base both inside the classroom and out, and is always looking for opportunities to put her skills and knowledge to use to help educate others. She understands the importance of client involvement during the rehab process and strives to integrate her clients’ needs and goals into program planning as much as possible. In her spare time, Emily enjoys yoga, swimming, walking her dog, and trying new things.

Janna Young

Type: Occupational Therapists

Janna completed her degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia in 2004. Janna has worked in a variety of health care settings, including long term care, acute inpatient services and community based services. Throughout her career, Janna has worked and volunteered as an OT internationally. Most recently, Janna has specialized in the area of Mental Health and is passionate about collaborating with clients in their recovery journey. Outside of work, Janna enjoys running, swimming, hiking and spending time with her husband and children.

Jason Hotell

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Jason is a practicing Kinesiologist who graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University College of the Fraser Valley and has been working as a Kinesiologist for over 9 years.  He has also completed a Fitness and Exercise Management Diploma from University College of the Fraser Valley.  Jason enjoys providing injury rehabilitation services to clients in their home and community, as well as aqua therapy and community access.  When not assisting clients, you can find Jason spending time with his family, skiing, and playing baseball and golf.

Klaus Figueiredo

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Klaus graduated with a Bachelor degree in Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2017. He joined the JR rehab team in February 2018. While attending UFV Klaus was also a varsity athlete with the Men’s Basketball Team. During his degree he was involved with the Stroke Recovery Group of Abbotsford as a volunteer and also spent time observing physiotherapy practice. Through school and his experiences, Klaus learned the power of exercise for recovery and maintaining physical health but also for developing important motor pathways that promote cognition. Klaus believes that with a proficient rehabilitation plan, not only can people recover from injury but also prevent injury by training mechanical function and cognition as it relates to exercise. Although Klaus enjoys playing basketball in his spare time, since he spent so many years participating in post secondary athletics, he now enjoys spending time with his friends doing various activities like hiking, snowboarding and also taking time to relax, preferably with a movie on the TV screen.

Maureen Woodward

Cognitive Rehab Coordinator

Maureen has always had a special interest working with individuals with traumatic brain injury. In September 2015 she set up the Comprehensive Driver Evaluation and Rehabilitation program, where she assesses the fitness to drive and establishes rehabilitation programs for individuals who have been diagnosed with traumatic or acquired brain injury, as well as reduced vision, chronic pain, anxiety, amputation and development disabilities.
Maureen is the Cognitive Rehab Coordinator and Driving Rehab Coordinator at JR Rehab Services Inc. She is also a Clinical Instructor, Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Medicine, The University of British Columbia.

Maureen Woodward

Rebecca Izen

Type: Occupational Therapists

Rebecca received her undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia where she majored in Kinesiology with a secondary focus in Family Studies. Upon graduation she pursued her passion for helping individuals with disabilities and she returned to UBC to earn a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. Rebecca has worked with a variety of individuals of all ages with both physical and mental health difficulties, from aiding school-aged children with learning disabilities, to reintegrating individuals back into their communities. In her free time Rebecca is passionate about staying active. She participates in many team sports and always enjoys taking walks around the Seawall with her dog Franky. Rebecca deeply values staying connected with her family, and especially loves spending quality time with her young nephews. Being born and raised in Vancouver, Rebecca is sincerely committed to the well being of her city, community, and the people who live in it.

Sangeeta Dhariwal

Sangeeta completed a Masters of Science in OT at the University of Alberta and has been practicing in the community since.  She has worked in both a return to work setting as well as in a long term care facility. Sangeeta has  a special interest in mental health and recovery, and also really enjoy working with clients who are learning to live and cope with chronic pain.  She is dedicated to professional development and continuing to be a life long learner and has had the opportunity to take courses in chronic pain management as well as attend a few Pain conferences. Sangeeta is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and helping them regain meaning back into their every day lives through occupations.  She is dedicated to working with each individual client and establishing goals and a treatment plan that best suits their respective needs.  In her spare time Sangeeta enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
