Alexia Baptista

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Alexia has worked as a behavioral  interventionist and shadowed an OT. She is interested in providing a safe and fun environment for active rehabilitation by providing client education and client-centered sessions. Other interests include the mind-body connection and how strengthening our mental health is just as important as our physical health.

She loves staying active via hikes, weight-lifting and spin classes.

Amanda Richmond

Amanda grew up in Cambridge, UK and moved to BC in 2006.  She studied Occupational Therapy at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, UK, and specializes in acquired brain injuries and orthopaedics.  She keeps active in her spare time throughout the year by training for triathlons.

Ashley Huff

Ashley received her undergraduate degree, where she majored in Kinesiology, and her Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia. Ashley is passionate about using evidence-based interventions to enable clients to engage in occupations that are meaningful to them. Her philosophy on rehabilitation is centered on the belief that all clients have the potential for recovery. When Ashley’s not working you can find her running, cooking, or exploring the local mountains surrounding Vancouver.

Caroline Cotton

Type: Occupational Therapists

Caroline trained at the Dorset House School of Occupational Therapy in Oxford. Also trained at the London School of Economics as a Private Secretary/ Personal Administrative Assistant; and Diploma in Interior Design through International Correspondence School.

She worked in England at St. Andrew’s Private Psychiatric Hospital, specializing in Brain Injury and Drug & Alcohol Recovery, in addition to working on a Regional Secure Unit for the Criminally Insane in London. She immigrated to Canada in  1990. She worked in the Kootenays as a community based Pediatric OT at the Children’s Development center, covering the schools throughout Nelson, Castlegar, Rossland, and Trail. Moved back to Lower Mainland,to set up Psychiatric Day Care Unit at Langley Memorial Hospital, covering in Patient Physical Medicine OT position. She worked as the first OT with a Brain Injury Rehab Company( Head works), specializing in Vocational Rehabilitation, Return to Work, and Er gnomic Assessments. Set up the first Community OT program with the Boundary Health Unit( continuing care) covering Ladner, Tsawwassen, White Rock, South Surrey and Cloverdale, whilst living and commuting from Sqaumish. Moved back into private practice with Northwest Rehab following the birth of her son in 1997, whilst covering  a casual OT position at Ridge Meadows Hospital in the Psychiatric Department, and a casual OT position at Surrey Memorial, covering physical medicine positions.

Commence working with Rehab Solutions in 1997 and have been here for 20 years.

Special interest in brain injury/spinal injury survivors, dual diagnosis; chronic pain;all age groups with specialized experience in elderly people.

Gurinder Dosanjh

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Gurinder graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor in Kinesiology in 2015. He joined the JR Rehab team in February 2016. He enjoys all aspects of rehabilitation varying form gym based programs to aqua therapy. He enjoys prescribing and directing specific exercise programs in the pursuit of helping a client reach their goals. He believes in constantly learning and bettering himself so aspires to learn about new treatment methods and philosophies to further aide his clients. Some of his interests include playing sports, hiking, jogging and reading.

Harleen Kaur

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Harleen finished her Kinesiology degree from Simon Fraser University in 2018 with concentration in Active Health and Rehabilitation. Prior to finishing school, she spent time volunteering and working as Student Kinesiologist liaising with disabilities ranging from short term to long term. From the beginning, Harleen had believed in working with mind and body. Hence, she likes to train in a way that involves them in the holistically and maximizes their physical, emotional and functional capacity.

Janna Young

Type: Occupational Therapists

Janna completed her degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia in 2004. Janna has worked in a variety of health care settings, including long term care, acute inpatient services and community based services. Throughout her career, Janna has worked and volunteered as an OT internationally. Most recently, Janna has specialized in the area of Mental Health and is passionate about collaborating with clients in their recovery journey. Outside of work, Janna enjoys running, swimming, hiking and spending time with her husband and children.

Jason Hotell

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Jason is a practicing Kinesiologist who graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University College of the Fraser Valley and has been working as a Kinesiologist for over 9 years.  He has also completed a Fitness and Exercise Management Diploma from University College of the Fraser Valley.  Jason enjoys providing injury rehabilitation services to clients in their home and community, as well as aqua therapy and community access.  When not assisting clients, you can find Jason spending time with his family, skiing, and playing baseball and golf.

Klaus Figueiredo

Type: Rehab Assistants & Kinesiologists

Klaus graduated with a Bachelor degree in Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2017. He joined the JR rehab team in February 2018. While attending UFV Klaus was also a varsity athlete with the Men’s Basketball Team. During his degree he was involved with the Stroke Recovery Group of Abbotsford as a volunteer and also spent time observing physiotherapy practice. Through school and his experiences, Klaus learned the power of exercise for recovery and maintaining physical health but also for developing important motor pathways that promote cognition. Klaus believes that with a proficient rehabilitation plan, not only can people recover from injury but also prevent injury by training mechanical function and cognition as it relates to exercise. Although Klaus enjoys playing basketball in his spare time, since he spent so many years participating in post secondary athletics, he now enjoys spending time with his friends doing various activities like hiking, snowboarding and also taking time to relax, preferably with a movie on the TV screen.

Kris Kent

Type: Occupational Therapists

Kris received his undergraduate degree from McMaster University where he majored in Biology. Upon graduation he pursued his passion for helping others through volunteering in Asia and Central America alongside various humanitarian organizations. Kris earned his Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia and has experience working on a multidisciplinary team helping clients with head injuries, traumatic psychological injuries, and chronic pain, overcome physical and psychosocial barriers to return to work. Kris is motivated in helping clients recognize their rehab potential and returning to meaningful occupations in all parts of their lives. When he is not working, you’ll likely find Kris cooking at home, running along the seawall, or hiking one of the local mountains.
